My sweet, sweet babies let their mom and dad sleep in a little bit today......
First interuption..."mom, can we both have a treat?"
"no....you may make you and your brother some cereal."
Second interuption..."mom, Sass didn't get me a fruit snack...."
*from the background...."Yes sir! I shared mine with you!"
"Fash....Sass was not supposed to have a fruit snack....so....you should feel lucky he shared with you before I knew he had it."
"Oh."
No more interuptions for an hour and a half!
Then.......I got up......I should not have done that.......
I walked into the living room......my smile faded.
"Are you guys eating Dorito$?......Are you guys eating Dorito$ with the couch as your plate?....How many granola bars did you eat?........Is that p!aydough on the living room carpet?.....Why are there cookie cutters on the carpet? Where is the rest of the
p!aydough?..........Why is it in the bathroom sink? Why are all the school supplies scattered on the kitchen floor? Did you make gat0rade? Where is the rest of the gat0rade powder? WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU PUT IT ALL IN THE PITCHER?"
**I am going to just go back to bed......THIS DAY did NOT start out the way I had hoped.**
Would you believe I walked back into the bedroom with my head down........and Mister is LAUGHING!!!
Laughing with him I said....."SERIOUSLY! What were we thinking, it would be fun to sleep in......that was not fun!"

Laughing so hard! This is absolutely my worst nightmare. They aren't allowed to do any cooking yet (oldest is six), so every half hour they come in and try to wake me up.
I'm soo sorry. Playdough is the of the devil.
The quiet is always the first clue. When they don't wake you up it usually means they don't want you to know what they are doing. I hope you took some pictures so you can show them when they are older.
You can always get revenge by cursing them with that curse all mothers say eventually, the "I hope you have children that are just like you!" curse.
Oh no! Hubby and I take turns sleeping in for this very reason! I usually get to sleep in on Saturday and he sleeps in on Sunday. Good luck with your mess :S
(I take a break from blogging to make sure they aren't eating in the family room.)
This is only funny because it is you and not me.
i do the same thing melissa does. paul and i alternate getting up with the kids. i seriously miss just being able to sleep in with paul but it's better than having to clean up a mess like that that i'm sure ava would make as well.
I'm sorry....but that's just funny!
I hope you grabbed your camera.
I agree with Annie. It's only funny because it's you and NOT me.
Oh, but I do remember the days.
Its always dangerous to leave the little angels to their own devices. We have taken our chances in the morning as well. I continue to be surprised of the distruction that can occur in such a short amount of unsupervised time. I have read through your previous posts and really enjoy being able to comment. Thanks for all the laughs. I look forward to each new glimpse into you life.
Next time let your husband get up and see who gets the last laugh!!
My girls decided to surprise me the other day and make breakfast. I'm still finding cinnamon and sugar all over in my kitchen. The worst is my margarine container. It is speckled with cinnamon and sugar....
Sounds a bit like my craziness, minus the sleeping-in part. Did you know it only takes about 30 seconds for a toddler to smear peanut butter from her snack all over her baby brother? I found out about that today. Oh, and fruit chews DO NOT like to wash off of even a microfiber couch. Nor the area rug. Nor curly toddler hair.
Thank goodness they are cute. I think nature knew that they had better be adorable or they would never get away with it! ;-)
Edub--It is soooo my worst nightmare too. Surprisingly....I wasn't all that mad, partly due to the fact....I wasn't tired, the other part because I deserve it, if I leave them to their own devises, I figure.
Heffalump--I am always concerned when it is quiet too....however, the quiet was the perfect combo for me to sleep.....I did not take pictures....I forget that I have a digital camera...plus...I figured I better get right to clean up, before they started practicing front rolls or something.
Melissa--under normal circumstances we take turns too. Looks like neither one of us wanted it to be our turn to get up that day, so we kept holding out for the other to get up....it didn't work out so good.
Annie--I too love when something like this happens to others. It does give you a sense of normalcy then.....that you are not the only parent whose children, act like *gasp* .....children.
Aubrey--I know....I gave into temptation......THIS time. I will be cautious not to let it happen again.
b---dang it...I did not take a picture. The boys did go back to check on Dad....whilst he was laughing.....and he said..."boys, you better get dressed and get outside before your momma finds something else you did." This had me too concerned to think of the camera!
Kayelyn--Doesn't it always seem like we are waiting for the next thing they can do....as soon as they can walk....as soon as they can talk....as soon as they can pour their own milk...when are we going to learn to let them be themselves....
Piny--I remember once, before I knew my oldest could stand up--I had left a load of folded clothes on the couch, long enough to go to the bathroom.....and he had created himself a little cotton land, happily in the middle of it.....1 minute...tops....I didn't take a picture then either...dang it! Glad you took a chance to peek through the past.....it even amuses me....after I let a few days pass by.
Amanda--Ahhh....sweet that they made sure you enjoy, and remember what they made for you, day after day, after day.....so thoughtful!
Stepherz--"Thank goodness they are cute. I think nature knew that they had better be adorable or they would never get away with it! ;-"
You couldn't be more right!
Oh.....and, I did know the peanut butter smear thing....but did you know the banana slices will then stick to the face?....true story.
ROFLMAO!!!!!!! Sorry, don't mean to laugh. I'm just really happy to be so far pst all of that. You poor sweet thing. Hang in there...soon enough you'll sleep late with no wories.
I think, that you just can't leave anyone with an imagination, and the slightest bit of energy alone for any period of time... something is bound to go wrong. Stuff still ends up going wrong when you're 18..... I mean....
That is a very sad tale. Very sad indeed.
Yikes, that must of been some gooood gatorade!
Kate--I am looking forward to the less mess.....but then I am sure I will be bombarded by the more mental mess....nobody said it would be easy right....
my man...so--I know, what were they thinking, letting us be in charge of others? I guess we have to be able to blame someone....parent's have all the fun don't they!
Carrot--I am a sad character...tis true. However....they did stick to the no on the treat....so....technically, they listened to their momma.....right.
Lisa--I must confess....I did not taste the gatorade....and I fear the energy level of those who may have tried it....thankfully the boys told me, "mom, don't try it....it is disgust-ing!" I took their word, and dumped it out.
HAHAHA! A hard lesson to lear indeed :D
PSYes, playdough is from the devil.
