Are you even curious?

Don't you want to know....all both of my readers? One of you got a phone call, and the other...well....I don't have your phone number....but I can IM you......and maybe I will. Then it will just be us three in on my "somethin's cookin'" it will just be between you and you and I. The rest of you will have to remain in the dark. Then you will all be jealous then......then you won't even be able to come over for a visit....you will just have to sit back at your own station.....sad, so very sad....that you weren't even curious to know what was cookin'.....see....that is what you get.

See......the first time I found one of my little blogging buddies.....the one that connected some of you to others......I was thouroughly entertained.....then she left me.....left me for good....to tend to what SHE was cookin'......see.....then she came back.....but I was already gone.....so she had to beg me to return to her.....which I did.....and I have stayed loyal. BUT NOW.....I have been left.....before I had a chance to leave you.......do you feel bad?

Well......even if you don't care.....I am still going to keep on cookin' that's right.....You can't stop me.....SO THERE!

I thought I might be that sassy.

You Are a Red Crayon
Your world is colored with bright, vivid, wild colors.
You have a deep, complex personality - and you are always expressing something about yourself.
Bold and dominant, you are a natural leader. You have an energy that is intense... and sometimes overwhelming.
Your reaction to everything tends to be strong. You are the master of love-hate relationships.

Your color wheel opposite is green. Green people are way too mellow to understand what drives your energy.
What Color Crayon Are You?
Thanks Millie!

Getting through.....I think

I am spun people.
So many blogs are updated, daily-weekly-monthly......mine remains updated WEAKLY. But whatever.

I need to stop getting involved in things....or something.
I am the Hockey Associations treasurer......may not sound like much, but last year I wrote over 700 checks......plus secured a large loan, the week after I became treasurer....and manage over $200, 000.00 Ahem

I was asked to join the YMCA Board.......their reasoning...."We really, really would like the input of a stay at home mom....." Which I of course translate to mean.....we really need someone to do all the work we don't want to......but I agreed anyhow.

I am the President of my son's Preschool Advisory Board. Which my children have explained to me that I am the Principal of the Preschool.....when I laughed that off......other people agreed with my children.

I teach a class at the YMCA for children age 3-5.....17 of them, we encourage excersize, and have fun and swim time, for two hours, twice a week.

I somehow agreed to watch a friend of mine's 4 year old every Thursday afternoon......though I do not remember agreeing to it, or any conversation which would indicate I would do it......but still, she has started dropping him off every Thursday afternoon. Love the kid, but really?

I agreed to teach in the area Elementary grades 3rd-5th, something called "Junior Achievement" to encourage children to embrace their community, and finance....or something. I got looped into that.............oh, a couple of people "highly recommended me" something....which I interpret as......she will do it, just call her.....she likes to have too much on her plate and stuff.
I do all this for free............unless there is somewhere I am supposed to be picking up a check, that somebody hasn't had a chance to tell me where that is........I will let you know if I hear.....

Oh yeah, and I was asked to be Sass's Assistant soccer coach.........yeah......I declined that one......I just can't run in high heels as quickly as I used to.
I need a nap.
*****out of control update***** just picked up the mail and I flipping got called for Grand Jury duty.....obligated to 12 months....you may be needed out of town.....are they kidding me!!?? Oh.....but they will pay me $4o a day....as if that will make my life work............

What to do when the power goes out!!

So......I am sitting at my computer, minding my own business......well, mine.....and of course yours. I should say, reading my own business........when out of nowhere.....I hear a ***POP*** which sounds like the beginning of one of those big fireworks set off! Then.......

Instant power outage.....

Dang it!

So.......I did what any sensible person would do......I started making dinner.......Yes I did, because that is what I should have been doing in the first place......

Turned on the oven to toast some buns...........yeah, you know the one that ISN'T WORKING......I didn't notice........hmmmmm.

Open the can of baked beans......put them in the pot......turn on the electric stove....yeah, you know the one that ISN'T WORKING!........I didn't notice.....hmmmm.

Then......I put my potatoes in my pampered chef steamer (if you don't have this item, you should get it.....super awesome...best baked potatoes......evah!). Pop it in the microwave and try to cook them.......yeah, you know the one that ISN'T WORKING! Finally I flipping noticed........and, yes....my friends I did try to push the buttons a few times......BEFORE I realized my mistake.

Sooooooo............what do you make for dinner when the power is out my friends......s'mores on the grill......that is right, just crack out the marshmallows....and get to toasting. Have you ever had them with a Reese's peanut butter cup instead of a Hershey bar? There is some protein for you! I am a good mom, there is dairy in chocolate.....and Graham in Graham crackers.....and mellow in marshmallows.....I am covered!

Power was restored 2 hours later. Turns out.....it was some dumb bird flew into the power box about three blocks away......with the POP I heard, pretty sure birdie didn't make it.....I'm just sayin'.

Jealous much??

My birthday was yesterday....oh yeah!

Where shall I begin? Let's see....to start off my Birthday week (It is still going mind you....so you can come out of the wood work and tell me Happy Birthday....I won't threaten, I don't even know if you stop by to visit me.....BUT if you do.....you should tell me Happy Birthday, because you like me...that is why.)

One Miss Tori :) sent me a funny Birthday card!

Then ON my Birthday, which was yesterday....(but you can still tell me Happy Birthday, because you are nice like that) I received in the mail a sweet card from my favorite little big girl Tall and short of it....blasted, that one made me cry! You know, told me how great I was and stuff.....

I spied a message on Aubrey, and Elastic Waist Band Lady's blogs wishing me Happy Birthday! With a link too.....they are good like that!

Then I got a super beautiful email from No Cool Story........she is SO COOL!

Then.....I spy....a package! What could it be? From my Birthday sister Aubrey! She sent me a lovely card.....AND......This is where your big time jealousy comes in......Tah Dah! Roll it on down!

See.....check out those gloves....well, glove....the other one is taking the shot....but it looked good too..........told you......JAAAIIILLLL-OUS!

Do you also spy in the pictures my beautiful Pansies? Courtesy of the one and only Mister.....I was out running errands.....yeah I know....ON my birthday....shaw! I pulled into the driveway, and Mister was planting away! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

Extra special bonus was I did not have to get my Designer gloves even dirty!! FANTASTIC!

THEN....I got one superb gift certificate from my Dear friend Annie....I am so grateful to know her and count her as my dearest friend! HA.....I knew her first.....cept for Carronin.....but....after that I knew her first.....TAKE that!

Then! Mister infiltrated my highly secure computer and sent out some sort of coded message to a list of folks from my address book......(not yet confirmed.....but I think that is what happened) as I was accosted by a barrage of emails wishing me one Happy Birthday! I got some great e-cards sent over too! Family phone calls rolled in until after 10:00............so yes my friends, it was a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Dang-it...............Then.....by the end of the night....Birthday ruined.......why you ask? Because apparently Annie thought it would be a good idea to bet her blog on some kid......So......Birthday is ruined unless Annie comes back as an extra special Birthday surprise......Now you wouldn't let me down, after all these years would you? Who taught you how to drive stick shift? Who? Who took you to runs to Tac0 Bell for a bean burrito no onions extra sauce, crunchy taco and small Pepsi? Who.....I even sat quiet while you displeased the taco by taking the lettuce off, and moving the cheese down....and breaking your shell into chips....who? Me that's who....now get back to blogging already!

Don't be too jealous or sad......you can be happy too......just not on MY birthday (which I will happily share with Aubrey!)

Appreciated!

Here is my latest TOOT. If you are a teacher....and you taught my child this year....then you are the recipient of this lovely little ditty, for teacher appreciation week.

We don't give enough credit sometimes to the sacrifices our teacher's make. They are grossly underpaid, and most of them, are fully committed to the success of our children.

Here is one of the many reason's I love teachers........

I am bringing you back with me to the third grade. My teacher was Mrs. Michaels......young, beautiful. She had an assistant, named Mrs. Thomas....also beautiful, also young, pregnant.

We had been learning about the Mayflower, pilgrims, Thanksgiving. I grew up with a single mom, we did not have a lot of money....I didn't really feel sorry for myself, just the way it was...plain and simple. So, often we went without some things.

It was a big celebration we were having with the other third grade classes, opening the dividers, we were going to have ourselves our own Thanksgiving, like had been shared with the Pilgrims, and Native Americans. Each student was asked to bring an item to share, large enough for 12 students. Sadness.......I asked, and it just wasn't an option. I didn't have the heart to tell my beautiful teacher I wouldn't be bringing anything, so.......I didn't. I just hoped to blend in....go unnoticed.

Then the announcements began......

"Thank you so much Shawna, for sharing with us this bread."

Then another...

"Thank you so much Carl for sharing with us these grapes."

This continued on down, with each child beaming at their thanks....and the item they brought.

Tears.....and sadness were about to overtake me.......

I wonder if I could throw up......and go to the nurse.......

Then....my beautiful, kind, amazing teacher held up a bag of oranges, and announced....

"Thank you So Dak for sharing with us these oranges."

I thought I would die of adoration........She connected eyes with me, and that was it.....we never spoke of it.

I moved to a new town one month later. I moved 14 more times before I graduated from High School.

I NEVER forgot Mrs. Michaels.

I looked Mrs. Michaels up when I was about to graduate from High School, I wanted her to know what she meant to me, and let her know I had made it all the way. She was pretty easy to find, she was still teaching at the same school.

Would you believe.......she came to see me graduate......what an outstanding individual....THAT is one of the many reasons I try to appreciate teachers every chance I get.

Don't ever forgot how important you can be to a child, we are all teachers.....just take a second to notice.

Happy Mother's Day.

Trying to catch up.....

Where to start.....Sorry, with the whole dropped off the face of the Earth thing. I will try to get back in the swing of things.

So......besides Hockey, this is my crowning achievement for the month of November, Fash turned 4!

I bought this Spidey pinata ......thought he looked ridiculous, and he needed to be adjusted.....so, I ripped off his stickers, covered him in tissue paper.....and painted him to look a lot less ugly.

Ahhhh.....here he is.

Happy 4th Fash! We definately sported some super hero's this year, here are the results!

This is his best little buddy....they take their job seriously!
How cute are they....I mean really, wouldn't you like one of these fellas coming to your rescue.

They are about to take off from this crazy place, there is some super-heroing to take care of!
Stand tall my good man...stand tall!

Looks like they are about to take off in flight, doesn't it!

I also made a Superman cake....but don't know how to hide Fash's name off it.....so, you don't get to see it......Sorry!
May you each have a Superhero in your life!

Have you seen SoDak?

I think she is hiding......

I am going to go and find her, and bring her back here...you wait, she will show.

It's hockey season.....

It is hockey season at my house.........which pretty much means, we eat, breathe and dream hockey. I mean that almost as literally as I can.......

Eat....we eat lightning quick before hockey practice....then eat a quick snack of ez-mac after....if there are games we have the ohhhh so healthy diet of hot dogs, corn dogs, walking tacos, hot cocoa, and Pepsi......then bed.

Breathe....my house smells like a hockey rink, between Mister being on the ice for his team, three days a week, Sass skating for his team three days a week.....along with Mister coaching his team......Fash once a week skating practice, with Mister AND I coaching kids age 3-6 how to skate.......Open skate two nights a week, and games all weekend that we watch......we pretty much breath in the lovely odor of hockey.

Dream....My boys.....all three of them dream of the next moment they can get on the ice......I dream about it, as I am the Hockey Associations Treasurer and constantly reminded of the things I should be taking care of........so my friends, that is where I have been.....and will be.........at the Hockey rink.
